I like so many other people in this Big ‘Ol World, have always had a hard time getting my voice heard. I also showed signs of Bi-Polar Disorder which only added to my difficulty in expressing myself in a politically correct way. So at a very young age I started putting pencil to paper. Poetry, journals, and sketches anything I could do to get the thoughts and ideas out. Only a select few ever got to see my artwork, or read my poetry not because I was that good, but I didn’t want to set myself up in such a vulnerable way. I still write but I find the most natural way for me to quench that undying need is through my art. I now consider myself a very talented self-trained portrait artist.
About 10 years ago I decided I would try selling my artwork. I tried a few times bringing artwork to art galleries, flea markets and different places where people were in hopes to sell a few pictures. I would get a lot of compliments and won a few ribbons in the county fairs but sold very little of my art. Man I wish compliments would have paid the rent and fed my children. I ended up going back to just drawing for myself and either hid or threw away my drawings after the thrill of creating them subsided. There are very few of my drawings around from 1991 to 2009, mostly just family and friends have a few on their walls. In late 2009 I decided I would try it again and “Portraits With Soul” was born…
I have over the years tried many different mediums and prefer Graphite and Colored Pencils on Heavy Bright White paper and a variety of blending tools to create my artwork. I have also used a combination of Charcoal and Colored Pencils as well as Grey toned pen and markers. I wish I could say I choose this medium because I Love the way they feel in my hand or that it is so much fun to work with. But my choice of medium is much deeper than that. It is a reflection of my thoughts on life itself. I believe the world would be so much easier and beautiful if things were just black and white. I add a little bit of color to remind myself that the reality of life is not that simple but can still be beautiful and a joy to live even when something different is thrown in the mix. There is a great chance of selling or getting more of my art displayed if I was to follow the trend and do more abstract / modern art but I choose to stay true to my beliefs and create the most realistic images possible. I am not the best or the most talented artist there is and never will be… But a portrait by Wilson is not just a pencil drawing to be hung up on the wall, but instead it is a “Portrait With Soul” created from your Love, Respect and Memories to be cherished for Lifetimes to come…

Hi,

Thank's for your kind comment. Lot of pics are coming, but I've reach the limit for one day with 10 pics !!!! ... If you like my pics, don't hesitate to enlarge them to see the full size, it's very interesting. The pics are funny, but always with a stunning quality, that's very important for me.

Wish you a nice evening
