- Joseph Spinella, tenor, is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, with a major in voice. He has participated in Master Classes with Birgit Nielsen, Eleanor Steber, and Regina Resnik. His tenor voice quality was described by Princeton’s weekly newspaper, Town Topics, as “a solid Metropolitan Opera level performer.” Joseph was discovered by Paul Nadler, one of the Metropolitan Opera conductors and was invited to work with Metropolitan Opera coaches in NYC. This began his regular sessions with Joan Dorneman, Luciano Pavarotti’s vocal coach of thirty years.
Jospeh has made numerous appearances, including most notably with “The Three World Tenors,” the Israeli Philharmonic under the baton of Zubin Mehta, and the Sarasota Opera. Other guest appearances include the Lake Placid Sinfonietta, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, and the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. He has also appeared as a guest soloist with the Anna Maria Island Orchestra, the Sarasota Pops, and the Sarasota Concert Band. He sang for the 1996 local Olympic Torch ceremony and created a CD, “Sparks of Fire,” to commemorate the 2000 Olympics. Joseph has performed in the international show, “The Three Waiters” which won 2006 Best Entertainment of the Year award.
In addition to singing, Joseph has been director/conductor of the Sarasota Mandolin Orchestra since 2009, which performs for all types of venues throughout the United States.
Joseph’s newest endeavor as Joseph Spinella – The Tenor of Illusions performing a fusion of great Italian music with “David Copperfield” style magic that enhances the story of every song.

Always Keep Trying - Cercare sempre

The archery at the 2012 Olympic Games was very exciting. And it proves a point that is very dear to my heart, always keep trying. At the very last minute, the final attempt will win the game. Never give up.
Being Italian-American, I was proud of both the Italian and U.S. archery teams. But when the last arrow was shot and hit the bulls-eye, that was a test of steady nerves and focused concentration.
