Hello friends. I paint a lot of scenes that I remember growing up around in the 60's,..like portraits of famous musicians from the 60's and 70's and artist that I admire. I paint cafe scenes and street scenes with the hippie day setting. I have always been absorbed in drawing from around 5 years old when my mother bought the 1963 World Book Encyclopedia set, and I remember drawing a man from history in one of those books that had a top hat and handlebar mustache that literally shocked my parents. And I drew it with an ink pen (no erasing) and it looked just like him in all his facial features. Since then, I was always the best in art projects growing up with perfect grades and being the teachers pet. :-) But I didn't really get into painting until after college, as a serious career, although I took art, and art history in college. I only painted about a painting every 5 to 10 years until 2002. I painted 43 paintings in 3 years, and in 2005 I went looking for a store gallery. Finding one that was impressed with my work, they advertised me as a regional Southeastern artist on every store front window in Auburn, Alabama, (my home town) and within 4 months I sold 41 paintings out of the 43 that I painted. And then for the next 6 years I didn't paint any more, because of a painters block, like writers block. I just recently moved back to Auburn, after living in Denver, Co.,. Danville, Pennsylvania, and Lake Mary, Florida and have began to paint again. I never took photos of the paintings I did from 2002 to 2005 except what you see on my profile here. But from now on, I am going to take photos of everything I paint and keep a list of all buyers for references. I enjoy meeting other artist online and have made many friends on Google+ that are mostly artist and art lovers. So, in the next coming months and years I will be painting again, if I don't suffer any more blocks. I wish that I had have taken pictures of all my paintings that sold, for they would speak more of my abilities. Anyways, I thank anyone that wants to be friends on this wonderful fine art website, and I hope to be posting some new work soon and photographed with a very good digital camera, hopefully. Thanks for taking the time to view my work. Most sincere, Matthew Woodall.
