MaheshRaval was Born in June 1962 in Surat (Gujarat). He did A.T.D. in B.A.Mehta kala mahavidyalaya. He was brought up in village he began painting at the age of 14. He Received International Goldmedal at Shankar Children International Compition , Delhi, awarded by Prime Minister of India - Shree Morarji Desai. Also awarded Gujarat State Level Youth Festival, 1979 and 1980.
Further trained by kalaguru Sushilaben Patel, Jashubhai Naik ,Ambaram Kahar.
As a child Mahesh’s first love being art, his notebooks at school were invariably filled with sketches and paintings.
Ever since his school- collage days mahesh has been open to experimentation in the usage of different mixed media, working with oils, charcoal, acrylic, water colours and even fabric printing on cloth. Mahesh Raval gathers his inspiration from the urban society and the surroundings portraying different aspects of our society. His works show the daily activities along with the objects and images that one encounters everyday. He uses several metaphors, significant in relation to the main thought behind his work related to the urban environ.
He painted beautiful realistic paintings that were of photographic quality. His works covered a variety of subjects from village activity,nature and landscapes. He is known for his realistic work & idea.
Mahesh speaks of his style as “…a new semi realistic technique of texturing with the play of light and shade”.
Mahesh’s expression of every subject on canvas and paper, leads the viewer to reexamine the threshold between illusion and reality, between waking and dreaming.
