I am the right brain. I am creativity. A free spirit. I am passion, yearning, sensuality. I am the sound of roaring laughter. I am taste. The feeling of sand beneath bare feet. I am movement. Vivid colors. I am the urge to paint on an empty canvas. I am boundless imagination. Art. Poetry. I sense. I feel. I am everything I wanted to be.

This is undoubtedly my bestwork so far.  Then again, I strive so that my next work is always my best work; I don't always achieve that, but that's the plan. This is a portrait of a lady looking back over her shoulder towards a source of light - i.e.,…Continue

Pittura a olio

Il mio primo quadro, a 18 anni,  l'ho eseguito con colori a olio e da allora, pur avendo sperimentato la tempera, l'acrilico e l'acquerello, ho sempre preferito l'olio a qualunque altra tecnica.

Pittura ad olio FOR EVER!

I have good experience working with grissaille. It helps me to see the shadows and the graduations. I use burnt umber in my grissailles. Sometimes I think the grissaille is so successful that I don`t paint any colours. Sometimes I only paint some…Continue

Hi Caasandra, hi everybody out there, I am a painter and not a writer, sorry, and my English  is not as god as I would want to discuss hier endlessly...  we can discuss, yes, I really want to discuss as I have time for it, but - about which themes? Discouss about art? One cannot discuss about art, thats my opinion, cause art ist too complex and it ist a matter if you like it or if you do  not like it. Thats all. About what else do you want to discuss? About tecnique? I do not now... I would be part of any discussion if it is interesting for me.

So here is a proposal:  lets talk about how to find a gallery.

Thank you Andrew, your words all ring true. It would be nice when someone posted their work they say something, about the work, about the ongoing conversation, about anything! Its like this in groups everywhere, hard to get a word in when there is nothing but images.   Love the work everyone, but it would be nice if you would use your words as well!

I personally have no problem with people posting images of their work - after all, we all want exposure and some of us are looking to sell.  However, what I object to - and not just here but on every other group and forum on this site too - is people who post only their work, without sharing other things, opinions, thoughts and what have you.  You see, I liken it to giving and taking; if you post your own work, you are asking - for feedback, custom, it matters not what - and that's okay so long as you're also prepared to give of yourself, your opinions, thoughts and so on.  Of course, I perfectly understand that some peope can only really communicate through the pictures, because they don't speak any sort of lingua franca, but even so, it does pall if they only ever do one thing.

And thank you, Laura - I will, in that case, publicise my art website: www.gruffuddfinearts.com is the place to be.  Enjoy!

Thank you for your kind answer, Laura.  I was wondering if it is not wanted to post photos of my work here. I dont think this is a forum to discuss, is it? Please correct me if I am wrong.

So now here are my newest paintings:

Almajohn, the way I see it is that the comments here (on the comment wall) are one after another so it's not possible to add a reply specifically to a comment, but rather to force the reader to make the connection.  If, then, there are loads of comments by one person, it becomes a matter of guesswork as to which comment the reply is apropos - instant pandaemonium, just add water - and a knob of butter to taste.  It really is a badly designed interface; but then, not all artists have a clue about I.T.

The best idea, for someone who wishes to have a certain topic discussed and to have more than the proverbial snowball's chance of following it, is to add a discussion, as per the link above the Comment Wall header.  But even then, the way conversations meander and take the scenic route around people's consciousness, it still ends up in a muddle.  Best off using a better system, as I have done on my own website; that said, I'm not going to publicise the link here, just incase someone gets the 'ump about advertising (although I'll gladly give it to anyone who asks).

I worked in a number of different mediums from soft-sculpture, to print making, to watercolors and acrylics and even dabbled in pastels before making my way to oils. I love'm. I have now been painting in oils since 2000.

I have to agree with Cassandra Gordon-Harris, re people's artworks.

Of course everyone wants to get exposure for their work - especially if they wish to sell it - but there is something ugly about the sort of overt in-your-face-ness that goes on when people put up picture after picture after picture with nary a comment in between.  This is a discussion forum, where everyone is equal; of course, some of us may be different in various ways, but everyone is of equal weight - it isn't all about me or all about you, save if either of us puts up a forum to that effect.

As it is, I am more likely to look at the artwork of people who do comment, and moreover go out of my way to look at it.  Much more than that, having made the effort to search for it, because it wasn't shoved in my face without even a glimpse of the personality of the person who painted it, I would be more inclined to look favourably upon it, even to the point of making an offer to buy it.  And yes, much of the art on these pages is likeable but I am disinclined to comment on any of them because the artist didn't show me the courtesy of discretion.
