Sorting Friends by Location For Sending Invitations

Why can't we sort friends by city/state or location on Art-on-Google?  I would like to invite people in the area to my events, given that my concerts are all over. Yet I can either invite all my friends or individual ones, which is most cumbersome.  Myspace has this capability.  It is a normal request, I believe.
