Brasov International Film Festival & Market: July 19-29, 2012
A new annual film festival showcasing nonviolent feature films is launching in Europe. The festival takes place in Brasov - Romania and it will screen a total of nine feature films in competition.
Brasov Film Center and the City Hall of Brasov have signed a five-year partnership agreement for the organization of an eleven-day film festival in Brasov, Romania. The festival is named Brasov International Film Festival & Market and its first annual edition will take place from July 19 to 29 in 2012. The main location of the festival and market will be the monumental Dramatic Theater 'Sica Alexandrescu' that is located in the historical center of the city. Free public screenings will also take place throughout the festival period in the main piazza, Council Square, of the old city.
Film submissions are now open to filmmakers from around the world. There is no submission fee. All films must be feature length, nonviolent, spoken in English or with English subtitles. Priority will be given to World Premieres and to European Premieres. A total of nine feature films will be selected in competition and they will screen at the Dramatic Theater. The films screened in the piazza will be out of competition. For more information and to contact one of the Festival Representatives, go to: www.rollywood.org
The film market runs throughout the same period of the festival and welcomes participants from all countries, who provide services to the motion picture industry. A special area will be set-up inside the Dramatic Theater to create a comfortable space where acquisition and
development executives, agents, attorneys, directors, distributors, financiers, film commissioners, producers, writers and world media representatives will be able to discuss and do business.
Film Director Bruno Pischiutta, Chairman of the Board of Global Film Studio, the funding source of the event, and festival's Artistic Consultant, had this to say: “Our company has a long
term interest in Brasov becoming an international film production center. The festival will welcome filmmakers, film distributors, media and world personalities. It will give them the chance to discover this especially beautiful city of Brasov with all it has to offer in terms of shooting locations, talent and film professionals. We like that Brasov, in time, will become a strategic meeting place for film producers and distributors in Europe. We also believe that the event will help attract to the city many more tourists from abroad”.
Film Producer Daria Trifu, President of Brasov Film Center and festival's Director, adds: “I would like to thank our team of talented and enthusiastic filmmakers who are practically and creatively helping set up this festival. In particular, I would like to thank Mayor George Scripcaru and Ms. Cecilia Doiciu, Brasov City Hall's Director of Exterior Relations, who have
facilitated the partnership agreement with the city that made the Dramatic Theater available as the main festival location. In addition, the city is providing access to local marketing and media channels and to placing posters throughout the city on city billboards, as well as permits and security city-wide”.
